Unitas has students from more than 40 different countries

The Kofu campus opened in 2017 and has students from more than 40 countries. It also shares a campus with Unitas’ English language school, where there are part-time job opportunities for students.

As well as the normal language courses, the school also offers EJU preparation classes for students who wish to move on to higher education in Japan.

English speaking staff available

There will be English-speaking staff available to assist you with any issues that may arise during your time at the school.

Part time job support

The school provides support by posting available part-time jobs in the area and preparing you for the interview.

Student lounge available

Mix and mingle with your fellow students or do some last minute studying in the student lounge.

Our school is located in Kofu.

KOFU – Unitas’ Kofu campus is located in the lush and mountainous area of Yamanashi, famous for beautiful nature and Japan’s national icon, Mt Fuji. Go to class and study during the week and enjoy outdoor activities, visit local attractions and relax at an onsen on the weekends.

For those who need a bit of city life, Kofu is less than two hours by train from Tokyo and the school is located a 10-minute walk away from Kofu Station.

UNITAS

GENERAL COURSE

This course includes standard Japanese lessons, JLPT exam preparation and cultural activities.

Other features

JLPT prep elective classes
These JLPT classes will prepare you for levels N2 or N1. They will focus on teaching you techniques to pass the test and will focus on the different sections that you will encounter in the test.

Higher education prep
This elective class prepares you for the EJU test, which is required for all students aiming to attend university in Japan.

Conversation classes
In this elective class, you’ll practice speaking and listening to increase your overall verbal communication skills.

Medium intensity means the school gives you a perfect balance between study pace and free time. This means that you’ll be able to enjoy your life in Japan, while still being able to effectively progress your studies.

COURSE DETAILS

Term breakdown

TERM 1
BEGINNER
All students sit a placement test and then a level test a month later. Teachers use Minna No Nihongo 1 and 2 and use visual aids and do plenty of in-class activities to ensure optimal conversation practice.

TERM 2
INTERMEDIATE
Students continue to develop their language skills. Teachers teach using 'Chukyo Nihongo' as the textbook. For JLPT classes, students will learn from 'Try N3' and 'Try N2' textbooks.

TERM 3
ADVANCED
This level focuses on improving speaking skills, advanced expressions and how to arrange phrases in different ways. To help students understand more about Japan, there is also a focus on looking at differences and similarities between Japan and students' home countries.

PREPERATION COURSE

This course is for those who want to move onto higher education in Japan after Unitas.
