The Collaborative Roles of Go! Go! Nihon and Shinjuku Japanese Language Institute (SJLI)

Clarissa, an Italian student, wanted to learn Japanese and experience Japanese culture up close and personal. Go! Go! Nihon helped her enroll at Shinjuku Japanese Language Institute (SJLI) and sorted out her visa paperwork. SJLI’s immersive approach to teaching really boosted Clarissa’s Japanese skills and cultural knowledge, making it easy for her to adjust to life in Japan.

Collaborative Partnership Helped Clarissa Achieve Her Dream

Many international students like Clarissa dream of learning Japanese and immersing themselves in Japanese culture. This case study highlights how Go! Go! Nihon, a Japanese study abroad company, teamed up with the Shinjuku Japanese Language Institute (SJLI) to help Clarissa achieve this dream. Go! Go! Nihon provided essential support, while SJLI offered a top-notch language program.

Clarissa’s Goal: Japanese Language Fluency

Clarissa’s main goal was to become fluent in Japanese by fully immersing herself in the language. She knew it would be hard to do that in her home country, so she looked for a Japanese language school that had a good teaching method for beginners. She thought,

Studying in Japan is way better than studying the language at home.

She also needed help figuring out how to study and live in Japan.

Go! Go! Nihon and SLJI’s Partnership

The solution involved a collaborative effort:

1. Go! Go! Nihon's Comprehensive Support

  1. Go! Go! Nihon helped Clarissa pick SJLI, a school that matched what she needed and wanted.
  2. Go! Go! Nihon helped with the complicated school and student visa applications.

2. Shinjuku Japanese Language Institute's (SJLI) Educational Excellence

SJLI offered the “Ezoe Method,” an effective visual teaching approach beneficial for beginners. Clarissa stated,

The strong point of the school, I think, is the teaching method. Especially for beginners, I believe they can benefit the most from it because the Ezoe Method precisely allows them to illustrate, in a visual way, all the mechanisms of the Japanese language.

SJLI had a full-immersion learning environment where students only used Japanese. This helped students learn the language much faster. Clarissa noted,

Here in Japan, I actually have the opportunity to study not just many more hours, but to study entirely in Japanese to be able to put into practice all the Japanese that I learn in class.

SJLI had friendly and patient teachers, so students felt supported and comfortable. Clarissa described the teachers as, “very friendly and patient in explaining what the students need to do, even to work here in Japan.”

This teamwork made sure Clarissa had all the help she needed while studying abroad.

Clarissa’s Success Story

This collaboration made Clarissa’s success possible:

1. Rapid language proficiency development

Clarissa went from knowing only basic Japanese to being able to speak at an intermediate level in just one year! Being fully immersed in the language at SJLI really helped her conversational skills. Clarissa mentioned,

When I started studying, my level was quite basic. I only knew how to read hiragana and katakana. I have been studying here for a year, and I am currently at an intermediate level. Now, I can read some more complex texts, so I think my Japanese has improved a lot. Since I started studying in this school, I think the biggest improvement has been in my conversation skills.

2. Enhanced learning experience

SJLI’s intensive curriculum and the Ezoe Method gave Clarissa a solid Japanese foundation.

3. Cultural integration

SJLI had a diverse student body, which helped enrich Clarissa’s experience by giving her a multicultural environment.

My classroom currently has 15 or so students, who are very different from each other and come from different nationalities. There are, for example, Chinese and Italian students, but there are also German students. I met my best friend here, who is Brazilian.

4. Support for future aspirations

SJLI also helped Clarissa chase her academic dreams. Clarissa stated,

My dream after graduating from this school is to study at a vocational school. I want to study Graphic Design, and this school has helped me try to find a vocational school that is more suitable for me.

5. Seamless transition

Go! Go! Nihon’s help made it easy for Clarissa to settle into life in Japan, so she could really focus on her studies.
