A student's schedule depends on the number of required and elective courses they take. Each major has a different curriculum and the university offers many classes outside of lectures, such as group work and field work.
Personalized study pathways
In the first year, all students take liberal arts courses regardless of their major. These interdisciplinary classes are designed to give students the foundation to build on when they start their specific majors in their second year.
Students have the opportunity to personalize their study pathways and take a variety of courses both within and outside of their major.
In the first and second years, English-based students will study courses related to their major in English. APU encourages students to learn Japanese while studying their major so that they can take courses in either language by their third year. Learning Japanese is compulsory in the first 1.5 years for all e-track students.
University Intensity
High intensity course: This is a full-time undergraduate course.

Tuition for the second to the fourth year of study is 1,500,000 JPY per year.
Students will be challenged to address a range of global issues and develop new ways of thinking to face them head-on. They gain a broad understanding of political systems, economics, societies, and cultures in the Asia-Pacific region, and gather skills in language and information technology. Students have options of overseas exchanges, internships, and field studies.
This degree prepares students for a variety of careers in government, media, international organizations, and multinational corporations.

In this one-of-a-kind degree, students study sustainable societies through environmental resource management and sustainable tourism. Students learn how to discover local resources found in nature, history, and culture, with the goal of protecting and developing them into a tourism source that contributes to regional development amidst globalization. They also learn how to address societal issues and support efforts in achieving global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The course has a strong emphasis on developing skills in research and data analysis that can be used in real-world settings both inside and outside of Japan.
