These places are replicated in, or have inspired, the backdrops to many beloved anime shows and it\u2019s a delight seeing them in person.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Let\u2019s take a look at some popular locations that you can easily visit when you\u2019re in Tokyo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-94261\" src=\"https:\/\/gogonihon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/4.jpg\" alt=\"Image of poster of a Sailor Moon movie\" width=\"798\" height=\"436\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><b>Azabu J\u016bban in <\/b><b><i>Sailor Moon<\/i><\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This famous and popular anime took a lot of inspiration from Tokyo to create its fictional Japanese city. Much of Usagi Tsukino<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Tsukino Usagi<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u6708\u91ce \u3046\u3055\u304e), or Sailor Moon\u2019s, life takes place in the upscale neighborhood of <\/span><b>Azabu J\u016bban <\/b><b>\u9ebb\u5e03\u5341\u756a<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, so it makes sense that one important real-life location is <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/bbYeNgcdMea3j8Ur7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Azabu Hikawa Shrine<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Azabu Hikawa Jinja<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u9ebb\u5e03\u6c37\u5ddd\u795e\u793e).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This shrine is the setting of Hikawa Shrine in the series, where Rei Hino (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hino Rei<\/span><\/i> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u706b\u91ce \u30ec\u30a4), who is Sailor Mars, works as a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/gogonihon.com\/en\/blog\/japanese-shinto-shrine\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Shint\u014d shrine<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> priestess. Looks-wise, the shrine in the show was actually inspired by another shrine, Hikawa Shrine (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hikawa Jinja<\/span><\/i> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u6c37\u5ddd\u795e\u793e)<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> located in nearby Akasaka.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Another real-life <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sailor Moon<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> anime location in Tokyo is <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/v1GcyrLky4S7osBN7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Azabu Juban Station<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and the areas around the station. Nearby is a statue that also features in the show &#8211; <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/tWufu5qx9nsU875m9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Girl in the Red Shoes<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, or Kimi-chan. The girl was adopted by an American missionary couple, but was unable to leave Japan with them after contracting tuberculosis. She sadly died in an orphanage at the age of nine.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Close to Azabu Juban is the unmistakable <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/vff6ZFwG7Y61Gw4k8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Tokyo Tower<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, which frequently appears in the background of Sailor Moon.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">With so much of this area inspiring the anime, there\u2019s no doubt that walking around you would feel as if you had stepped right into the<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Sailor Moon<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> universe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-94241\" src=\"https:\/\/gogonihon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/1.jpg\" alt=\"Image of person holding an image from Japanese animated movie Your Name up against the real-life location in Yotsuya, Tokyo\" width=\"798\" height=\"436\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><b>Yotsuya in <\/b><b><i>Your Name<\/i><\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The popular 2016 romance fantasy captured hearts all over the world. You can retrace the steps of the main characters Mitsuha and Taki in the area of <\/span><b>Yotsuya <\/b><b>\u56db\u8c37<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, where some of the movie\u2019s most famous scenes took place.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Perhaps one of the most recognizable is <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/onp67YEbCkwpr9iF8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Suga Shrine<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Suga Jinja<\/span><\/i> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u9808\u8cc0\u795e\u793e) <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">and the steps leading up to it, which feature at the end of the movie. A number of locations in the film can be found around Shinjuku, including the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/259iZLh8NN1CKgFC7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Mode Gakuen Cocoon Tower<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, and the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/z4LEMDctnLuJrzo66\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Atami building<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> in <\/span><b>Kabukich\u014d \u6b4c\u821e\u4f0e\u753a<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, a popular entertainment district.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A little farther away in the upscale area of Ginza \u9280\u5ea7 is what many <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Weathering with You<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> fans believe inspired a red <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">torii <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">gate that sits on top of a building in the movie. The real shrine, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/cCaYwUZDoa2uNyZY9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Asahi Inari Shrine<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Asahi Inari Jinja<\/span><\/i> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u671d\u65e5\u7a32\u8377\u795e\u793e)<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is also atop a building, but it\u2019s not the same one as in the film.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Tokyo City View\u2019s observation deck makes an appearance in this film, as does <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/rZCvPoa2UsrjMFL59\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Odaiba<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/NmUnr2QrvnLAHj9q7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Shibuya Crossing<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, and also the NTT Docomo Yoyogi Building.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Chiyoda in <\/b><b><i>Love Live! School Idol Project<\/i><\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This teenage school drama is set in the Chiyoda ward of Tokyo and one of the most well-known locations is <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/FT4tjqg25jbpLFHN7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Kanda My\u014djin Shrine<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u200b\u200b(<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Kanda My\u014djin<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u795e\u7530\u660e\u795e).
