Finding a way to take a taxi in Japan isn\u2019t too hard, especially if you are in a city. Below are some ways of finding a taxi in Japan.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taxi Stands<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

One of the easiest ways to take a taxi in Japan is to look for designated taxi stands. These can be found at major train stations, shopping centers, and tourist attractions. These stands are usually marked with signs that say “TAXI” or “\u30bf\u30af\u30b7\u30fc” in Japanese. When you arrive at a taxi stand, simply do as the Japanese do, stand in line and wait for the next available taxi.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you’re not near a taxi stand, you can also hail a taxi on the street by raising your hand. <\/span>Time of day <\/b>– a late night surcharge of around 20% is added between 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.<\/span>
<\/span>Fares <\/b>– Any highway fares incurred are paid by the rider<\/span>
<\/span>Distance traveled <\/b>– generally costs 400-750 yen for the first one or two kilometers, and after that an additional 80-100 yen per 200-400 meters or 1 minute of waiting time. This depends on the taxi company and location.<\/span>

Regarding payments, nowadays it is often possible to pay with a credit card, and sometimes even with an IC-card such as SUICA or PASMO.
