Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) opened in 2000 in Beppu with the aim of creating global leaders in all fields and industries. Since then, APU has become the top private university in Western Japan.

The APU E-Track Program means that you can access their world class curriculum completely in English, while also learning Japanese at the same time, to get you ready for the workforce in Japan.

APU is located on Kyushu, Japan’s third-largest and southwesternmost island, in the bayside city of Beppu. College of International Management: Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)

Students will build well-rounded and specialized knowledge in business, as well as skills in leadership and entrepreneurship fit for a globalized world. On top of that, students develop an appreciation for diversity and inclusion by tackling business, environmental, and societal challenges together with people from around the world.

APU's School of Management is one of the top management schools in the world, and one of only three schools in Japan to join the United Nations-backed Principles for Responsible Management Education global movement.

Prerequisites

To be accepted at APU you must:

1. Have completed or is scheduled to complete a standard 12-year education (high school diploma or equivalent)
2. Have ONE of the following English language proficiency requirements:
– A minimum score of 6.0 for IELTS or IELTS Indicator;
– A minimum score of 75 for TOEFL iBT® Test or TOEFL iBT® Home Edition
– A minimum score of 750 for TOEIC® L&R Test
– A minimum score of 169 for Cambridge English Language Assessment or Linguaskill
– A minimum score of 50 PTE Academic
– Minimum Grade Pre-1 for EIKEN
– There could be English proficiency requirements exceptions for those who completed the full 12, or at least the 3 most recent, years of their formal education in an English speaking country.

Personalized study pathways
In the first year, all students take liberal arts courses regardless of their major. These interdisciplinary classes are designed to give students the foundation to build on when they start their specific majors in their second year.

Students have the opportunity to personalize their study pathways and take a variety of courses both within and outside of their major.

In the first and second years, English-based students will study courses related to their major in English. APU encourages students to learn Japanese while studying their major so that they can take courses in either language by their third year. Learning Japanese is compulsory in the first 1.5 years for all e-track students.

Students will be challenged to address a range of global issues and develop new ways of thinking to face them head-on. They gain a broad understanding of political systems, economics, societies, and cultures in the Asia-Pacific region, and gather skills in language and information technology. Students have options of overseas exchanges, internships, and field studies.

This degree prepares students for a variety of careers in government, media, international organizations, and multinational corporations.

College of Sustainability and Tourism: Bachelor of Sustainability and Tourism

In this one-of-a-kind degree, students study sustainable societies through environmental resource management and sustainable tourism. Students learn how to discover local resources found in nature, history, and culture, with the goal of protecting and developing them into a tourism source that contributes to regional development amidst globalization. They also learn how to address societal issues and support efforts in achieving global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The course has a strong emphasis on developing skills in research and data analysis that can be used in real-world settings both inside and outside of Japan.
